Animation and Digital Storytelling Across the Curriculum

Thank you for joining me for the presentation. I hope you have new ideas and inspiration for implementing animation and digital storytelling in your classroom.
You can download my presentation and run it in your browser. The media folder also contains all of the samples. With all of the movies, the zipped archive is pretty big – 53mgs.
I covered a lot and talked really fast, so please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

A Few of the Benefits of Frames
Creating animated movies and digital stories engages students in the curriculum, encourages problem-solving, and provides a means to collaborate and communicate ideas.
As part of your eMINTS Conference registration, you received a single copy of Frames.

Frames is eMINTS acceptable alternative software!
While Frames is not mandatory or required for an eMINTS classroom, it may be included without seeking permission from the eMINTS National Center.

You can find many different Frames resources online at:
www.tech4learning.com/frames

Recipes4Success Has Resources for Frames!
Recipes4Success.com includes Recipe tutorials to help you learn to use Frames for clay animation, chroma key, and digital storytelling, as well as Snacks that provide answers to specific Frames questions you might have.

The Lesson Library is also full of lesson plans that will help you successfully integrate Frames into your classroom curriculum.

Vocabulary Grabber

Here's a new program that I haven't figured out how I will be using in the classroom, but definitely with rudiment upon how to use effectively. You can cut and paste any text and it will give you a thesaurus and definitions of the words in the text. Play with it.

That Quiz

Sign up for an account (free) and insert student names. You can select from pre-made quizzes or create your own. They are graded and kept in "gradebook" format for you online. Students see their score upon completion of each quiz/test.
www.thatquiz.com/Also, the initial screen that you see on the site (gray boxes) can be used for general practice. Students are prompted to correct all questions they missed, too. Check it out!

Math Wiki

Student Thoughts about their Math Wiki
http://langwitches.org/blog/2010/02/24/student-thoughts-about-their-math-wiki/

Are you taking a "risk" as a teacher by "taking precious classroom time" to have students work on a wiki? Does this kind of "project" support the way students learn? Is it a tool that is/can/will help transform teaching?
As I thought of and suggested to my Middle School Math teacher to create a Math wiki [...]
